Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be accountable for the planning, administration, and operation of technical services, which include the supervision of bacteriology, parasitology, and virology diagnostic laboratories.
- Ensure the accurate testing and reporting of samples from internal/external veterinarians and institutions, with quality assurance control throughout, while managing a rapid and efficient service. Assess the section’s ongoing test requirements and respond accordingly. Prioritize and delegate tasks within the infectious disease unit.
- In an ever-evolving veterinary diagnostic market, employ professional technical expertise and experience to develop and deliver infectious disease service.
- Expand the service’s testing repertoire by utilizing specialized resources in companion animal diagnostics in innovative ways, thereby preserving and enhancing its international reputation by devising new methods with greater sensitivity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the academic head of infectious disease to establish partnerships with commercial corporations and research scientists for both scholarly and commercial endeavors.
- Supervise the diagnostic laboratory budget, monitor expenditures, and implement corrective measures if budgetary constraints are exceeded.
